Question

Windows 7 won't let me boot anything from DVD?

I am trying to do a clean install of windows 7. I have windows 7 ultimate installed. Whenever I try to boot from my DVD it ignores it and just goes straight to windows. (Yes I am pushing F11)

Answer

If you are pushing F11 and it is not taking you to the boot selection screen, maybe your keyboard is not working at boot. Try using a PS/2 keyboard, or another USB keyboard. If you are using a bluetooth keyboard, then that is your problem, and you need to use a USB or PS/2 one.
Also, try entering the BIOS configuration and changing to boot order. You can do this usually by pressing DELETE when the computer boots, but look on the screen for what button to press. You can pause the initial message you see when your computer boots by pressing the pause/break key.
If you have Vista or 7 installed already, you probably do not need to reboot your system anyway. Just put in the DVD and the auto run should start up and let you do a fresh install right from in Windows.
Did you burn the DVD yourself? If so, make sure you burnt it as an image, not as a data CD. If you just moved the .iso file onto the disc, you did not do it right. You need to burn it as an image. infrarecorder.org/ is a free program that can do this.

Other Answer

your boot options have nothing to do with an operating system that hasnt even booted yet. Try harder.

what software are you using for the burn? use imgburn if you aren't. It's free and much better at .iso than nero and the like. Like the one guy said, make sure you slow it down. I wouldn't do anyhting over 2x and that is pushing it really for an OS disk.
