What is the file format for iwork pages on a mac?

ya know, is it .pages? .doc? what is it?

there isn't an extension it's just a pages document. however you can save a pages doc as a .doc. go to
file
save as
make sure your save options are expanded (the little triangle by the doc title)
check the box that says "save as a word document" and it will be saved as .doc
