Question

When will they stop selling Netbooks with Windows XP?

I want to get an Acer aspire one, and I do want a brand new one, and I specifically want XP, when will they be fazing that out? (I am currently unemployed)

I doubt they will. XP takes a lot less space to install on the hard drive then Vista and Windows 7 does., and a lot of them have much smaller hard drives, so I doubt they will faze that out anytime soon. I was really glad to find XP still on some computers. lol

If they haven't done so already, probably pretty soon. Now that Windows 7 is out netbooks are shipping with the (utterly horrendous) Windows 7 Starter Edition. This new excuse for an operating system is worse than XP ever was (don't get me wrong, Windows 7 is awesome, but the Starter Edition is a monstrosity of evil that reeks of unfathomable stupidity). Basically you get Windows 7 minus every redeeming feature of Windows 7, leaving you with an ugly, low featured, limited, nearly useless copy of Windows that you can't even do simple things like change the background on.
Fortunately, the good editions of Windows 7 run fine on netbooks (I have a Lenovo S10 that came with XP but I put Windows 7 Professional on it and actually I think it runs better than XP did). So if you want one with XP (and trust me, you want one with XP, if you want a good Windows 7 it's best to buy a real version and install it yourself) then act fast as they probably won't be around much longer.
