In Microsoft Word 2003 how do you have 1 column in the 1st half of the page then 2 columns on the other half?
Answer
You need to do two things:
? Use section break, this will let you vary the layout of a document within a page or between pages
? Change the layout after the continuous section break to double columns
INSERT SECTION BREAK
? Position your cursor at the end (last character) where you want to make a formatting change.
? From the menu bar select INSERT > BREAK
? From the break dialog box, under Section break types select CONTINUOS (this inserts a section break and starts the new section on the same page) and click OK
CREATE A DOUBLE COLUMN LAYOUT
? Position your cursor at the beginning where you want the columns
OR select the text to be placed in columns.
? From the menu bar select FORMAT > COLUMNS
? From the columns dialog box, select the number of columns you want
? Change any other value and click OK
And thats it.
